Microsoft Copilot Is for Everyone: Now Available on Any Device

Microsoft Copilot: Now Available on Any Device for Everyone

What is the role of Microsoft Copilot?

The Copilot feature set integrates large language models (LLMs) with current Microsoft products.

• Windows 11

• Microsoft Edge

• Microsoft 365 apps (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Among the AI elements of Copilot are text and data analysis, as well as generative AI (text and images). The idea is to save time while you write, brainstorm, and look for answers to finish your work.

How to Utilize Windows 11's Microsoft Copilot

Copilot for Windows 11, which is still in preview, adds a chat experience to the OS and offers several AI-powered features to Clipchamp, Photos, the Snipping Tool, and Paint.

If you were a part of the release wave and your system is current, the Copilot icon will appear in your taskbar. Alternatively, to see if you have it installed, click the Windows key + C.

How to use Microsoft Copilot in Microsoft Edge and Bing Search's AI Chat

Microsoft Edge and Bing Chat will come next. I've grouped these as Edge doesn't offer much more AI than Microsoft's native browser, and that browser is the best way to access Bing Chat.

Microsoft quickly added artificial intelligence (AI) to Bing Search, a chat service that allows users to search the internet and receive natural language responses based on their search results, following the release of ChatGPT. The integration with OpenAI's picture-generating model DALL·E 3 is its most intriguing update.

Type in the prompt after declaring that you wish to create a picture. There will be four outcomes. Although Bing proposes adding more prompts to regenerate areas of the image, this doesn't always function as intended. Continue searching for what you're after.

Although Bing's AI Chat is available in all browsers, Microsoft Edge offers a unique integration for it. With a dedicated sidebar, it provides a funny disclaimer at the bottom that reads, "Surprises and errors are possible because Microsoft Copilot is powered by AI." Yes, in fact.

How to utilize Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with Microsoft Copilot

With a set of prompts, you can now use AI to write in Word, analyze data in Excel, and create presentations in PowerPoint. Simply look for the Copilot symbol in the upper-right corner of the toolbar of each application.

Copilot within Word

Using Word first, insert a new prompt on a blank document by using the shortcut ALT + i. I requested an article's outline on how to use Word's Copilot feature for writing (very meta): The results are fully formatted and available for editing in the document. The results can be saved or deleted, and the option to regenerate with or without a brief prompt is available.

The Microsoft Copilot button is located on the left of the line, and you can pick it up by clicking anywhere on the page. You can then add extra instructions by opening the prompt input once again. There, the updated text will show. The cursor position is known to the engine. For instance,

Are you unsure if your readers will find that paragraph compelling? After you highlight it, choose Rewrite with Copilot: You have to decide which of the three new possibilities that appear is the best way to rephrase the original.

Once you've finished writing or reading a document created by someone else, you may access the sidebar conversation by clicking the Copilot button located in the upper-right corner. You can ask questions about it, provide a summary of it, or request that the text be analyzed in any way you see fit. Make sure you click on the book symbol in the input area so you may get a variety of useful prompts for everyday chores.

Excel's Copilot

For those of you who are obsessed with data, Excel continues to be a magical tool. Clicking the Copilot button will launch the sidebar chat, just like in Word.

You must first decide which range to analyze. You can then inquire about that range, for example, what would my expenses be without cable? With a single query, you may transfer the data to a new sheet and add or remove rows to isolate this projection.

Excel is known for its formulas, and when you click on the prompt bubble at the top of the conversation input, Copilot can provide a few enhancements. As you choose new data ranges, these bubbles can help you grasp what's feasible, so be sure to look at them. For instance, selecting "show data insights" will provide you with a summary of the salient features or practical information about the range in question.

Finally, you can use the AI to chat with you to change the formatting or data. To make the data on your sheet easier for your eyes to read, you can add additional rows with fresh values or bold the first column.

PowerPoint's Copilot

Additionally, PowerPoint has some AI upgrades. If there are many slide decks shared by your team, ask to have the presentation summarized by opening the Microsoft Copilot sidebar. Without going into great detail on each issue, you will receive a brief overview of the key points.

Copilot can arrange the presentation for you if you're running out of time and need to fit everything into each slide, or if you're following a stream of ideas. All you have to do is click on the labeled prompt suggestion. To maintain a logical framework, your slides will be arranged according to theme and some new ones will be created.

How to utilize Teams and Outlook with Microsoft Copilot

Outlook and Teams are also included in the updates. Although communication is essential, there is so much of it that it can be daunting and distracting. Here, the Microsoft Copilot features concentrate on saving time while maintaining the ability to extract crucial insights and promptly follow up with all parties.
